On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II turns 94, marking the occasion amid a global pandemic that shut down her country — and the whole world. Even this remarkable event took place in the aftermath of another trading: a mass shooting that killed 19 people in Nova Scotia, Canada over the weekend. In response on Tuesday, official social media accounts of the Royal Family shared a statement from the Queen and her husband Prince Philip — who formally retired from royal duties in 2017 — to give their condolences to the region’s Governor-General and Lieutenant Governor.
It continues:
The attack is one of the worst in Canada’s history. But since everyone close to the Queen expressed their condolences in various ways, they also took a moment today to remember the birthday of the Elizabeth. A grainy home video of the monarch as a child was posted by Buckingham Palace early on Tuesday morning.
Elsewhere at last year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Kate Middleton and Prince William shared a picture of the pair. This is with the queen, posting on the Kensington Palace Twitter accounts:
Social Media Pours Instagram with Wishes for Queen Elizabeth II
Of course, all these tributes to social media caused other Instagram users to wonder. Where’s Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Message?
The family reportedly lives in Los Angeles after last year surprising the world. This is by revealing that they have been walking away from their Royal duties. This arrangement contributes merely to the peculiar essence of this year’s Elizabeth birthday. Queen Elizabeth II will normally celebrate with her family in a more intimate way today. Then, at the Trooping of the Light, a second birthday celebration takes place in June — a military parade in London. This Ceremony is even more lavish.
However, the monarchy has also declared the cancellation of this year’s Trooping of the Color … With no alternate arrangements to mark the official Queen’s birthday so far.
